My husband and I want another room in our home. We would like a room that is dedicated to being our home office. I work from home and he does some of his work from home too. It would be nice to have an office instead of using our dining room table. We have been considering what to do in order to have an office. We have thought about adding a room to our home or possibly converting our attic into a loft.

Things To Consider

If we add another room to our home, we will have a lot of construction going on and we will also need to hire a reliable contractor to do the work and build the new room. This is going to be an expensive route, but we will have access to our office on the main floor of our home. We both like the idea of this and also making our home larger too. We want to call around and get some estimates before we completely throw this option out the window. However, I already know that this will disturb us while the work is being done and we may not even be able to stay here for a week while they are working on it.

Converting Attic With Bespoke Furniture

Our other option is fixing up our attic by adding some bespoke pieces of furniture and converting it into a loft. This seems like a more practical idea and something that we could work on ourselves. There is already electricity in the attic and that would make it even easier for us to do it ourselves. We have talked about what we would need to do in order to turn it into a room.

We would need to drywall the walls and maybe put a window in. For that work, we may need to hire someone. The downfall of doing this loft conversion is where our office would be located. We aren’t really sure about having an office all the way in the attic and it would just make more sense to add an additional room to our house. We have talked about doing the loft conversion and moving our bedroom to that room. We could then fix up our bedroom and use it as our office. It was a thought, but my husband wasn’t really crazy about that idea.

Hopefully, we can come to an agreement soon on what we will do. I want to have a room that is dedicated to being my office at home. I don’t really care about it being in a loft, so hopefully I can get my husband to agree with me about it. We are going to call around to see what it will cost to get another room added to our home and compare the cost of what it will be to convert the attic into a loft. As well as the cost of hiring an interior designer to come in and decorate my new office space. Once we get that information we will be able to determine what we will do and I will be one step closer to having an office to do my work in.
